About
Lincoln Center's outdoor season is in its last stretch: a mirror-ball dance floor, silent discos and choose-what-you-pay concerts.
For two months every summer the most formal arts campus in America takes the velvet rope down: the fountain plaza becomes an outdoor dance floor under a mirror ball, Geffen Hall opens on choose-what-you-pay tickets, and the Atrium runs free concerts most nights. This weekend alone carries a globalFEST bill, a five-company dance festival, a street-dance takeover and a free evening-length work. The season closes in early August.
What to expect
Multiple simultaneous programs across the campus — outdoor dance floor, plaza performances, free Atrium concerts and ticketed-but-cheap indoor shows. Pick up a daily schedule at the plaza; the density of programming rewards planning over wandering.
Good to know
- The 1 to 66th Street–Lincoln Center exits onto the plaza itself
- Most outdoor programming is free and unticketed; indoor shows use choose-what-you-pay tiers
- The outdoor Dance Floor is standing-room and gets busiest after dark
- The campus is fully accessible, with step-free routes between plaza levels
- Free Atrium concerts are first-come and the room is small — queue rather than arrive at start time

On Josie Robertson Plaza, the main fountain plaza, converted to an outdoor floor with a mirror ball for the season.
