Vocabaret's five hosts have racked up more than 100 titles at pun competitions around the world, and they build each month's show around a new language theme. Expect puns, tongue twisters and surprisingly nerdy word history, the kind of evening The New York Times called a night of witty wordplay. If you do the crossword in pen, this is your Friday.

What to expect

An hour and a half of rotating segments: competitive punning, sketches and short talks about where words come from. Caveat's room is small and the crowd is enthusiastic and participatory.
