FreeFree entryMakers market

Staten Island artisans set up along Snug Harbor's Cottage Row with food and live entertainment at this free open-air market.

Cottage Row is the line of nineteenth-century workers' cottages on the Snug Harbor grounds, and the market sets up along it — Staten Island artisans, food vendors and live music, framed by architecture that predates most of what is left in the borough. It is a genuinely local market, meaning the makers are from the island and the stock is not the same imported inventory as every other borough flea. If you are on Staten Island and want to actually buy something made there, this is the place.

What to expect

Stalls line the Cottage Row path with handmade goods, art, jewellery and craft from Staten Island makers, alongside food vendors and live entertainment. Entry costs nothing and the surrounding eighty-three acre campus is open to walk. Expect a relaxed, local crowd rather than a destination-market crush.

Good to know

  • Free Staten Island Ferry to St George, then the S40 bus
  • Free to enter — you pay only vendors
  • Bring cash for smaller makers
  • The rest of the Snug Harbor grounds is free to walk
  • Outdoor market, so it is weather-dependent
  • Level paths along Cottage Row
