For one afternoon Bay Ridge's Fifth Avenue loses its cars across more than ten blocks and fills with a family dance party, a bouncy house, LEGO tables, games and crafts. It is organised by Brooklyn Bridge Parents with the local business district, so it feels like a neighbourhood block party scaled up. If you live south of Prospect Park and want an easy free outing, walk over.

What to expect

Activities are spread along the closed avenue with music running throughout. Kids move between the bouncy house, craft tables and LEGO play while parents browse Fifth Avenue's shops and cafés.
